Abstract

The publication continues the author’s justification of the methodology of integrated urban development in Ukraine. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the issues of participation of various actors and groups in the context of integrated urban planning. We try to clarify the understanding of the “stakeholders” term from the view of the “right to the city” concept, as well as to analyze specific methods for identifying and involving interested individuals and groups. The idea of “right to the city” is closely linked to the movement for human rights in urban environments, particularly in terms of technical and organizational decisions made during the urban planning process. It is substantiated that the primary way for citizens to be heard and, accordingly, to influence urban processes in large Ukrainian cities is to be part of public associations and to be involved in planning activities through them. It is emphasized that geographical research methods provide opportunities for analyzing, systematizing, and strategizing issues affecting stakeholders in urban management processes. The algorithm for forming sustainable and systematic interactions between residents and the city is considered through the effects of appropriation and participation in the planning process, which constitutes the scientific novelty of the study.
